Some pieces are trendy and “in”, some others are timeless, eternal. They never go out of style and they make classic style statements when your wear them.
These are the pieces that are worth splurging on because they will always be useful.
There are quite a number of them but these are my top five!
1. Ray Ban Wayfarers:
The Ray Ban Wayfarers is a cat with nine lives. It was manufactured by Ray Ban in the 50’s enjoyed a lot of popularity in the 50 and 60s, faded in the 70’s,made a comeback in the 80s, declined in the 90s and resurrected again the late 2000s.With redesigns and paying attention to pop culture the wayfarers always finds a way to become relevant.
It is sometimes referred to as the best-selling design of glasses in history.
2. The Chanel 2.25 Flap Bag:
The Chanel 2.25 Flap Bag is one classic statement piece.
It was designed in 1929 by Coco Chanel but it is still going strong even up till today.
The bag has a quilted diamond or herringbone pattern on the exterior. Using a running stitch, this gives the bag shape and volume.
3. Christian Louboutin Black Pumps
Burberry is most famous for its Trench Coat (which is also iconic in its own right).
The scarf is also, maybe because it’s more useful to me in Nigerian weather than the coat. It’s stylish and spots Burberry’s distinctive tartan pattern
5. Hermes Birkin Bags:
For me Hermes’ Birkin Bag wins the day. It’s one of my most coveted fashion pieces.
Not to be confused with Kelly bags, every one of the Hermes Birkin bag is handmade. To get one, you have to get on a waiting list which most times is closed.
A lot of ladies spot the fake, that’s why you see it around a lot. The fake can even cost you as much as $1000 dollars on eBay. The authentic Hermes Birkin bag sells for about $11000 at last check!
